Here are the questions we get asked most often. If yours isn’t here, call or text Pastor Jim at (518) 949-7679 or send a note through our Plan Your Visit page.

Worship

When and where do you meet?

We worship Sundays at 11:00 AM from September through June, and at 10:00 AM from July through Labor Day.

We meet at 1326 New Seneca Turnpike, Skaneateles, NY 13152. Use the rear entrance. Parking is right there and someone will point you to a seat.

What are the services like?

Our service follows a historic Reformed order: a call to worship, praise songs that blend traditional hymns with modern worship music, a prayer of confession and assurance of pardon, the reading of God’s law, Scripture, and a sermon that walks verse by verse through a book of the Bible. We confess our faith together from the creeds and the Reformed confessions, share the joys and concerns of the church family, and close with a benediction.

Preaching is expository and direct. We open the Bible and let it speak, and we aim to send you home with something to carry into your week. The service runs a little over an hour.

What should I wear?

Whatever you’ve got on. You’ll see work boots, Sunday best, and everything in between. Nobody is checking.

What about my kids?

Kids are part of the church family and part of the service. Wiggling and noise don’t bother us. Every adult who serves with children at Finger Lakes Reformed is background checked and trained under our Child Protection Policy.

Do you take communion? Can I participate?

Yes. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the second Sunday of each month. The table is open to baptized believers who have professed faith in Jesus Christ. If that isn’t you yet, you are still glad to be with us. Let the plate pass and keep listening. We would love to talk with you about what the Supper means.

Will I be singled out as a visitor?

No. You won’t be asked to stand, wear a name tag, or say anything. We’ll say hello and hand you a bulletin, and the rest is up to you.

Can I watch online?

Yes. Sermons are posted on our YouTube channel, and our Android app puts them right on your phone. Check the Sermons page for the latest message.

What We Believe

What kind of church is Finger Lakes Reformed?

Finger Lakes Reformed Church is a member congregation of the Alliance of Reformed Churches. We hold to the Bible as the inspired, inerrant Word of God and to the historic Reformed confessions: the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort, along with the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds.

In plain terms: we believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone.

Are you part of the RCA?

No. Finger Lakes Reformed Church is part of the Alliance of Reformed Churches, a network of churches committed to the authority of Scripture and the historic Reformed faith. If you grew up in a Reformed church in the Finger Lakes, the confessions and the order of worship will feel like home.

Is this a new church?

Finger Lakes Reformed began worshiping in Skaneateles in early 2026 as the second campus of Sharon Reformed Church, a congregation established in 1771 in Sharon Springs, NY. So we are new to the neighborhood and old in the faith. A growing church with deep roots.

What if I’m not a Christian?

Then you are exactly who we hope will walk through the door. You don’t need to clean yourself up, know the songs, or have your questions answered before you come. Bring the questions. Bring the doubts. Nobody will put you on the spot.

What you will find is a church that takes the Bible seriously and talks about Jesus plainly, without pressure or gimmicks. Sit in the back if you like. Come as many Sundays as you want before you decide anything. And if you want to talk one on one, Pastor Jim is a farmer and a retired Marine who has heard just about everything. He’d be glad to sit down with you over coffee, no strings attached.

Church Life

What is the church community like?

Finger Lakes Reformed is a growing church family drawn from the Town of Skaneateles, Auburn, and the farms and villages around them. Our congregation is made up of farmers, veterans, retirees, young families, and folks who drive in from across Onondaga and Cayuga Counties. Many of us were raised in the Reformed tradition; others found it later in life. What holds us together is the Word of God and a shared conviction that the gospel is for our neighbors, not just for us. We are praying for one more. One more family, one more neighbor, one more person who meets Jesus here.

What happens during the week?

Wednesday Bible Study meets at 6:30 PM, hosted by Barb Dart. Bring your Bible and your questions.

Thursday Night Prayer Watch meets Thursdays at 6:30 PM on Zoom, joining our Skaneateles and Sharon Springs church families with missionaries on the field. No one is put on the spot to pray out loud.

How does the church serve the community?

We support missionaries in Kenya and the Philippines, take part in Operation Christmas Child with Samaritan’s Purse, and stand alongside local veterans and their families. If there is a need in the Skaneateles and Auburn area, we want to know about it.

Who is the pastor?

Rev. J.G. (Jim) Peck is the Senior Pastor of Finger Lakes Reformed Church and of Sharon Reformed Church in Sharon Springs. He is a retired veteran with 21 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and New York National Guard, runs a beef and hay farm, and holds a Master of Divinity from Western Theological Seminary. He preaches straight through the Bible, one book at a time.

Are you connected to Sharon Reformed Church?

Yes. Finger Lakes Reformed is the second campus of Sharon Reformed Church, which has worshiped in Sharon Springs, NY since 1771. One church family, two locations, one pastor. Learn more at sharonreformed.org.
